Style and Comfort
Linden Lodge boasts a vaulted ceiling with wooden beams, and restored stonework, preserving its history and character. Beneath it there is a large living area with a modern kitchen. From the living area several steps lead to a bright bathroom.
Windows offer romantic glimpses of the front courtyard garden and the wild fields
at the rear, as well as pastoral views of the surrounding pastures.
The lodge is perfect for a couple or a single person. Guests from the LGBT+ community are welcome.
The lodge is not suitable for those with mobility issues, the elderly or the heavily pregnant. Smoking is permitted outside.
We regret that we cannot accept pets.
Lounging
The lodge has a new sofa with coffee table and a standing floor lamp, for reading, lounging or watching the Smart TV with wifi and Netflix.
In the heat of summer you can while away the hours, reading a book, finishing your novel or planning your next one. Photographers and artists will find inspiration in the region's charming treasures: the quiet springs where laundry was washed; undulating rivers flowing past silent gardens; and handsome romanesque churches, where the Angelus is still rung daily to tell the farmers to come home from the fields.
Cooking and Dining
The modern kitchen is equipped with red 1950s-style appliances, giving the space a fun, retro vibe.
There is a tall fridge/freezer with plenty of space for food and drinks; a smeg hob, an oven and a new microwave, as well as a frying pan, red enamel casseroles and a set of modern saucepans. Utensils are catering grade stainless steel.
An electric whisk and blender, baking trays and a box of equipment for decorating cakes have also been provided for enthusiastic bakers.
Bathing
Several stairs lead from the main living space to the separate bathroom, which is decorated in a fresh, tropical green.
The suite includes a toilet, shower and a large heated towel rack for warm towels. The wash basin is set into a vanity unit, with a mirror, lights, and drawers underneath, and there are free-standing shelves for toiletries.
Towels are provided and are changed at the end of each 3-day and 7-day stay. Extra changes can be made, if required.
See our terms for more information.
Sleeping
Getting a good night's sleep is important, so we've invested in new furnishings and upholstery.
There is a spacious new bed (160cm X 200cm) and mattress, with a topper for extra luxury and hygiene; the bedding and bedlinen is also new; and a soft red velvet throw adds both comfort and glamour.
Linen and towels are included in your fee. Changes are made after a 3-night stay, and at the end of each 7-night stay. An extra bedlinen change is €34.
See our terms for more information.
Outdoor Spaces
There are various outdoor areas for relaxing and socialising.
These include a sun terrace, the dappled shade of the Linden and little maple tree in the front courtyard – cool even on hot days – or the canopy of the large wild cherry tree in the back garden.
Whatever your preference, you will always be able to find somewhere to let your mind wander, daydream and decompress. You can dine indoors or outside – whatever your pleasure – we tend to dine where it is coolest at the time!
Saint Claud
Out little town is famous because it is the snail capital of France. Every Autumn we have a festival with eating, music and displays. People come from everywhere to join in.
The town boasts comprehensive facilities and they are all within walking distance – 20m from our gates. See the list at the top of this page.
There is a charming public open-air pool 5 mins walk away (see pic), and there is one in Confolens (20 mins by car).
For additional shopping, just nine minutes away by car you will find Chasseneuil with Lidl and Intermarché supermarkets, a petrol station, garden centre, and a cinema showing an eclectic mix of French, British and world films, some with English subtitles.
La Rochefoucauld with its magnificent château and many restaurants is only 18mins away, and the tranquil riverside town of Verteuil is 20mins north. Be sure to check out our Things To Do page for activities and cultural pursuits in the area.

For accidents or emergencies the hospital in Confolens has an A&E that is open 24hrs.
